Freddie Gibbs is an American rapper who has released the solo studio albums ESGN (2013), Shadow of a Doubt (2015), You Only Live 2wice (2017), and Freddie (2018). He has also published numerous EPs and mixtapes over the course of his career. One of his collaborative albums, titled Alfredo (2020), was nominated in the category of ‘Best Rap Album’ at the 2021 Grammy Awards.

- When he was 19 years old, Freddie had been enlisted into the U.S. Army as part of a pre-trial diversion program when he was on trial for theft and gun charges. He was, however, dishonorably discharged from the army just 8 months later after he had been caught smoking marijuana.
- After this, he had started working at a mall in his hometown of Gary. There, he had met a local hip-hop producer who used to own a studio nearby. Freddie had joined his crew and had started pursuing a career in rap music.
- He had eventually been signed up by Interscope Records in 2006 and had even recorded his debut studio album under the label. However, he was later dropped from the label and the album was canceled
- In November 2014, when he was sitting in a car after having finished performing at a record store in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, New York, a gunman had opened fire on him. He had, somehow, managed to escape without a scratch. However, 2 members of his entourage had sustained gunshot wounds.
- In June 2016, before he was set to perform at a concert in Toulouse, France, he had been arrested on a European arrest warrant that had been issued for an incident of r*pe that was alleged to have taken place in Austria in 2015. Freddie was then extradited to Austria on s*xual assault charges. He was in prison for a few weeks after which he had been released on bail of €50,000. He was acquitted on all charges in September 2016.
